CSR - Macau Half Marathon

In Q4 2012, Elliott Scott HR initiated a Corporate Social Responsibility program which empowers each of the members of our recruitment team to select an organization of their choice to sponsor going forward. I am pleased to announce that I have committed to fundraise for and support Team Fox and The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. This past December, in support of the cause, I completed the Macau Galaxy Half Marathon while racing for Team Fox in 2 hours, 28 minutes.

Michael J. Fox is a Canadian American actor, author, producer, activist and voice-over artist with a film and television career spanning from the late 1970s. Fox was diagnosed in 1991 with young-onset Parkinson’s disease. Upon disclosing his condition to the public in 1998, he committed himself to the campaign for increased Parkinson’s research and started The Michael J. Fox Foundation. Team Fox was created to engage and support the thousands of people worldwide who have made it their mission to raise funds and awareness for Parkinson’s research. Team Fox members across the globe share a single goal – to help make Parkinson’s a thing of the past by turning their talents and interests into events that bring together family, friends and communities in pursuit of a cure for this degenerative disorder. Since its launch in 2006, Team Fox has more than quadrupled in size, and they have raised an astounding $15 million USD for Parkinson’s research.

Through the Elliott Scott team, we have continued the pursuit for the cure of Parkinson’s research in Asia by raising funds for this worthy cause. I have witnessed the challenges of Parkinson’s firsthand through the condition of my aging great uncle and a handful of family friends in the U.S. I have been touched by this December experience in many ways and feel honored to have had the opportunity to race on behalf of Team Fox for the 3rd time. While it was a dark and rainy 5:00am start in Macau this past December, it was a moving experience to know that I was running on behalf of a team of passionate supporters around the world. I look forward to hopefully beating my time in another race with Team Fox in 2013.

Thank you to Elliott Scott HR for its continuing support!
