Job Description

My client is a top international law firm who are currently growing their Birmingham office. They are looking to build a legal learning team there who can deliver legal learning for all UK lawyers, with a particular focus on our trainees and junior lawyers; tracking and reviewing the SRA development plans that UK lawyers complete as part of their SRA requirements; and for aligning these plans with other firm initiatives.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing administrative support to the Legal Learning team who look after the delivery of legal and legal skills training courses for trainee solicitors and all qualified legal staff including: 
  • Booking rooms/equipment for training sessions
  • Booking delegates onto courses and providing relevant course materials 
  • Ensuring attendance registers and evaluation questionnaires are provided
  • Ensuring that training rooms are set up correctly by liaising with relevant local office stakeholders to organise
  • Distributing evaluation questionnaires and compiling course evaluation summaries
  • Entering training and event information into a customised training records database
  • Recording post-event compliance against delegate training records
  • Creating central files and maintaining filing records
  • Providing ad hoc general secretarial and administrative support to the Legal Learning Team Co-ordinator and the Legal Learning Manager
  • Maintaining training records held on the department's training database including processing new joiners and leavers 
  • Administrative support for SRA and Law Society of Ireland CPD compliance
  • Administrative support for SRA-mandatory trainee training (PSC)

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a professional services environment
  • Experience working with compliance regulations
  • Understanding of training programmes 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a global team  
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and clients and comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders 
  • Excellent project management skills and self-motivation
  • High attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions and processes consistently
  • Commitment to high levels of client service both within the function and across the firm
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to build relationships of professional trust and courtesy and to interact with internal clients at all levels and with external contacts
  • A good knowledge of the MS Office suite of applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and excellent IT skills
  • Knowledge of Dovetail
