My client is a top global law firm looking to hire a Legal Learning Manager in the Birmingham area. The role will be responsible for managing the legal learning team and budget, ensuring that lawyers across the UK receive the right support to develop their technical expertise. They will need to be an expert on SRA training requirements and ensure that the firm is kept abreast of all new regulatory developments.

Specific Responsibilities Will Include

  • Overseeing the regulatory training of Trainees. The Legal Learning team is responsible for managing the invitations, scheduling and delivery of the in-house programs.
  • Liaising with external training providers to ensure all agreed SLAs are met
  • Attending external events as needed, to maintain links with the relevant regulatory bodies and other professional groups
  • Liaising with stakeholders who provide training to trainees and associates both inside and outside the firm to ensure coordination with content and topics

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be a qualified lawyer
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Have familiarity with SRA and LSI
  • Previous experience of compliance and regulatory work
  • Comprehensive knowledge of standard best practices for providing a learning and development service (within a law) including organizing events and training
  • Comfortable working remotely reporting into a manager in London
  • Builds and maintains effective working relationships with colleagues and clients and comfortable working with a variety of stakeholders
  • Works collaboratively and flexibly within a team, willingly supporting other team members
  • Strong time management skills with a keen focus on prioritization and planning
  • Strong attention to detail as it pertains to producing important documentation around regulatory training guidelines for our lawyers
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • A willingness to use initiative and withhold a proactive attitude
  • Reliably and consistently delivers on agreed objectives and commitments
