Those in Total Rewards will develop the organisations approach to pay and benefits to ensure they are meeting the diverse needs of their employees and remaining competitive in the talent landscape.

Total Reward professionals need to balance the reward opportunities available with the organisations goals, budgets and HR strategy.  

Depending on the organisations size, Total Rewards roles range from Junior to Senior level.

Those in Total Rewards will:

  • Work with the organisation to define its compensation and benefit packages and align to its business plan and budget. Dependent on region; salary, bonuses and incentives, insurance and healthcare, further education, paid time off, sick leave, pension and wellbeing all fall into the Total Rewards remit.   
  • Understand the legal and regulatory landscapes of the reward agenda 
  • Stay up to date on salary benchmarking and compensation brackets for roles in the organisation
  • Keep a pulse on new benefit offerings that meet the changing needs of the workforce. 
  • Identify and work with partners and platforms to deliver benefits to the organisation if necessary 
  • A wellbeing offering can also fall into the Total Rewards remit, this is an area which has become critical to attracting and retaining employees. More and more people recognise the need for holistic wellbeing to be satisfied, healthy, and motivated in life.
  • Defining the organisations flexible working policies can also fall under Total Rewards and include arrangements for remote work, hybrid working, flexible work hours, leave options etc.

Job titles for this discipline include, Total Rewards: Administrator, Analyst, Coordinator, Consultant, Advisor, Specialist, Manager, Business Partner, Director, Expert. Head of Reward, Director of Reward. Job titles may also begin with ‘Compensation and Benefits’.​​
