HR Business Partnering

HR Business Partners (HRBP’s) are commercially focused HR generalists who work to align the organisations people strategy with its business strategy. The HRBP maintains an effective level of business literacy with regards to the company’s financial position, its strategy, its culture and its competition.

Their activities will vary dependant on the size of the organisation, in an SME they may be required to act as more of an HR Generalist whereas in a larger organisation are more likely to work alongside the centres of excellence in the HR function. 

HRBP positions range from Junior to Senior level roles. 

An HRBP will:

  • Develop trusted relationships with the business areas they support 
  • Meet with the key stakeholders to understand and advise on the organisations people challenges 
  • Utilise their expertise to develop solutions that align the people strategy with the business strategy  
  • Analyse trends and metrics with the wider HR function 
  • Resolve complex employee relations issues and grievances 
  • Coach and provide guidance to key stakeholders  
  • Provide guidance on HR policy and people practices such as restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.
  • Act as a local point of people expertise for specialist teams that are implementing new people approaches
  • Evaluate training programs and identify training and coaching needs for teams and individuals
